These stories are just a glimpse of all the families The Arc Minnesota and its regional chapters have grown to know and love over the years. There are many challenges to assuring protections and advocacy services continues for years to come as Minnesota faces its most significant budget challenges ever. A huge thanks to all the families that keep fighting the good fight and to the TapeMark that continues its generous support to people with disabilities and their families.

"People with disabilities need our voices to say that they matter to us, that we love them, and this will not happen on our watch!"

I feel the same way. I have a cousin (by marriage, but I call her my cousin) that has a unique disability. It is so rare and unique that all of the doctors that studied her said if they ever run across another person with her challenges, they'll name it after her.

This has serious challenges... she doesn't fall in to a "category" where there are support groups and information available with lots of knowledge on how to specifically care for someone with that particular set of needs. And there are no programs for her. Very frustrating and disheartening to her family.

The hard part in all of this is with a declining global economy (currently at least), I personally don't have a ton of hope that it's going to get better for any of us any time soon.
